The HBCU Impact Hub Is Coming to Howard – And We’re Bringing Club 520 with it for Homecoming

This Homecoming, we’re teaming up with Club 520 for a night that’s equal parts celebration and launch.

Club 520 LIVE: Homecoming Edition – presented by Project 68 and Howard University’s Cathy Hughes School of Communications – brings a live recording of the Club 520 podcast to the Howard Theatre during Homecoming week (Wednesday, October 14th at 6 PM). It’s a full-circle moment: The same week doubles as the official launch of our HBCU Impact Hub, and a celebration of the Cathy Hughes School of Communications’ 55th anniversary.

Why this matters

The HBCU Impact Hub is one of our pillar initiatives – a campus-anchored effort to build the next generation of Black storytellers and civic leaders, and there’s no better stage to introduce the program than Homecoming when the entire community – students, alumni, faculty – comes home at once.

Pairing the launch with Club 520 felt right. They bring the culture, the audience, and the energy; we bring campus access and a civic-engagement lens. Together, the live taping becomes more than a show – it’s a real conversation about culture and why investing in HBCUs matters.

More than one night on stage

Club 520’s presence isn’t limited to the Howard Theatre stage. Throughout the week, the crew will be on campus – engaging directly with students and plugging into campus life and homecoming activities, extending their connection with the university beyond a single taping.
