The HBCU Impact Hub Is Coming to Howard for Homecoming — and Project 68 Is Bringing Club 520 With It
“Club 520 LIVE: Homecoming Edition” at the Howard Theatre on October 14 marks the official launch of P68’s HBCU Impact Hub and the 55th anniversary of Howard University’s Cathy Hughes School of Communications
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Project 68 (P68) and Howard University’s Cathy Hughes School of Communications will present Club 520 LIVE: Homecoming Edition, a live recording of the Club 520 podcast at the Howard Theatre on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during Howard Homecoming week (October 11–18). Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the recording begins at 7:00 p.m. The show is all ages. Tickets are available through Union Stage Presents.
The night doubles as the official launch of P68’s HBCU Impact Hub, a campus-anchored program that gives students paid fellowships, mentorship, production support and access to industry networks in order to build the next generation of Black storytellers and civic leaders. It also caps the 55th anniversary of the Cathy Hughes School of Communications, founded in 1971 and the first official Impact Hub partner. Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism and Graphic Communication joined as the second partner in August.
Club 520, from iHeartPodcasts and The Volume, is hosted by NBA All-Star and 2021 NBA champion Jeff Teague with DJ Wells and Brandon “B Hen” Hendricks. The show has ranked No. 1 among basketball podcasts on Apple Podcasts in the United States and has built its audience on unfiltered conversation about sports and culture. The Homecoming Edition brings that conversation onto the Howard Theatre stage, with a focus on why investing in HBCUs matters now.
Club 520’s presence extends beyond the taping. Throughout Homecoming week, the crew will be on campus with students and plugged into Homecoming activities, extending the partnership past a single night.
“Howard has been producing the people who tell this country’s story for 55 years. The Impact Hub exists to make sure the next class gets paid, gets mentored and gets into the room. Opening it with Club 520 at the Howard Theatre during Homecoming is exactly the point: meet people where the culture already is,” said Darryl Banks, Co-founder of Project 68.
“Howard Homecoming is already the biggest week in the culture. Putting Club 520 in the middle of it, and having it feed the next group of storytellers, that’s the kind of thing we said yes to before they finished the sentence,” said Jeff Teague, host of Club 520.
“This ain’t just a taping. Homecoming week at Howard is a whole culture, and we’re going to be in it all week, not just on stage for a night. Bring your people,” said DJ Wells, co-host of Club 520.
“The Cathy Hughes School has spent 55 years training communicators who shape how this country sees itself. The Impact Hub gives our students paid, real-world experience on their own campus, and this event puts that mission on a stage the whole community can see,” said Dr. Kimberly R. Moffitt, Dean of the Cathy Hughes School of Communications at Howard University.
